ABCD is the trapezoid having AB = 20 m, CD = 12 m and the inclined side BC = 17 m

Now, draw a perpendicular on AB from point C which intersects AB at E.

Now, EB = AB - AE = AB = CD = 20 - 12 = 8 m

Now, Δ CEB is a right triangle and CE² = CB² - EB² = 17² - 8² = 225

⇒ CE = 15 m.

Therefore, the area of the trapezoid is
(1)/(2) * (AE + CD) * CE = ((20 + 12) * 15)/(2) = 240 sq. meter.

Now, given that one can of weedkiller can covers 100 sq. meters and each can cost £19.75.

Therefore, 240 sq, meters area will cost £(19.75 × 2.4) = £47.4 (Answer)
