s = 6.4 or 32/5

Explanation:

Bob rode 32 miles in 5 hours. Lets put this into an equation. Lets say the variable s is his speed in miles per hour.

5s = 32

Solve for s.

÷ 5 both sides.

s = 32/5

simplify (or not)

s = 6.4 or s = 32/5
