The amplitude of a sinusoidal function is HALF of the difference between MAX and MIN points of the graph.

The graph shown isn't centered at x-axis. Now, we look where the maximum point is. Each unit of graph is "1" units.

The max point is at y = 1

Now, we look for minimum point. Thus,

the min point is at y = -5

The vertical distance is:

1 - (-5) = 1 + 5 = 6 units

The amplitude is HALF of this vertical distance, so

Amplitude = 6/2 = 3

Amplitude = 3
