Answer: No. of street bear "Fourth Street " as name= 7848

No. of street bear "Main Street" as name =7536

Explanation:

Given : Two common names for streets are Fourth Street and Main Street, with 15, 384 streets bearing one of these names.

Let x= No. of street bear name Fourth Street & y= No. of street bear name Main Street .

Then ,
x+y=15384------------(1)

There are 312 more streets named Fourth Street than Main Street.

i.e.
x-y=312-------------------(2)

Adding (1) and (2), we get

2x=15696

Divide both sides by 2 , we get

x=7848

Put value of x=7848 in (1), we get

7848+y=15384\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=15384-7848=7536

Hence, No. of street bear name Fourth Street = 7848

No. of street bear name Main Street =7536
