let the amount of force which should be applied be F

We Know that Impulse = Ft = change in momentum = momentum after - momentum before

We know that Momentum= mv

Momentum after force applied = 0 (∵ the car stops and velocity = 0)

Momentum before the force applied = mv =
1200* 30 = 36000 kg m/sec

Impulse =
F* 5


F * 5 = 36000

F = 7200N = 7.2KN
