Question: What are two reasons given by Loyalists for remaining supportive of England instead of supporting American independence? What might a Patriot say in response to each of these reasons?

1. In case the English win the war, they want to be on their side so they don't get punished as bad.

a patriot may say: But if we win the war, we won't have as much respect for the Loyalists because they supported the enemy.

2. They came from Britain and it was their home country, and they did own the colonies and had a right to tax them even though they were not represented.

a patriot may say: We are our own country that is being taken advantage of, and we want our freedom and independence.
