(4x-1) - 2(x+1) = 3x - (4x+2)

Use distributive property on left side:

(4x-1) -2x -2 = 3x - (4x +2)

Simplify both sides by combining like terms:

2x -3 = -x - 2

Add 1X to both sides:

3x -3 = -2

Add 3 to both sides:

3x = 1

Divide both sides by 3:

x = 1/3
