a*d = b*c

Let's pick for example the couple of fractions


\large\bf (84)/(96)

and


\large\bf (147)/(168)

They would be equivalent if

84*168 = 96*147

As we have

84*168 = 14,112

96*147 = 14,112

Then the fractions are equivalent.
