ONE QUESTION HELP PLEASE :(

A few stunt jumpers are attempting to jump from a plane to a hot air balloon. If the plane is 180 feet above the balloon (vertical distance), and has a 67o angle of depression with the balloon, how far would the jumpers need to go to land in the balloon?

Answer:

460.67 feet

Explanation:

Please see attached image.

Here, we see that a right triangle is formed. The distance jumpers need to jump to go to hot air balloon is labeled as x

With respect to the angle given, we have the adjacent side (180) and we need the hypotenuse (x). Which trig ratio relates ADJACENT to HYPOTENUSE?

It is Cosine. So lets use cosine and solve for x:

Cos(67)=(180)/(x)\\x=(180)/(Cos(67))\\x=460.67

So they would need to jump around 460.67 feet
