George Washington was near the end of his second term and retirement when he wrote the letter in 1796. This letter known to be called as 'George Washington's Farewell Address'. In his letter, he was concerned both about domestic and foreign issues. 'The baneful effects of the spirit of the party" by this statement he warned the countrymen to the factional policies of political parties. The main theme of the letter is to make his fellow citizens think of the unity of the country.
