How or why INTERmolecular forces affect physical properties such as melting point?

Step-by-step explanation:

Inter-molecular forces are those forces which act in between the molecules of a compound or element .These forces are attractive in nature.

When the inter-molecular forces are large,the bonding between the molecules increases.So,it becomes difficult to remove the bonds as inter-molecular forces increase.So, a large heat quantity is required which can be achieved in high temperatures.

This is the reason why melting point increases when inter-molecular forces increase.
