Answer:

(b) The difference in amount of wax needed candles is 20.74 cu. inches

Explanation:

The dimension of the cylinder is: h = 4 in , r = 2 in

Now, Wax used to make the Candle = Volume of the cylindrical candle

Also, V ( Cylinder) =
\pi (r)^2h

\implies V = 3.14 (2)^2(4)  = 50.24

⇒The amount of wax used to make cylindrical candle = 50.24 cu.inches

The dimension of the sphere is: r = 2 in

Now, Wax used to make the Candle = Volume of the spherical candle

Also, V ( Sphere) =
(4)/(3) \pi (r)^3

\implies V = [tex](4)/(3) (3.14) (2)^3  =33.49

⇒The amount of wax used to make spherical candle = 33.49 cu.inches

Now, the difference in the amount of wax needed by both candles

= wax used to make (cylindrical candle - spherical candle)

= 50.24 cu.inches - 33.49 cu.inches = 20.74 cu. inches

Hence, the difference in the amount of wax needed by both candles is 20.74 cu. inches
