You are working as a sales clerk in a fabric store and need to determine the price on some fabric. The fabric sells for $6.97 per yard and the customer is purchasing 7/8 of a yard. How much would you charge?

Answer:

$6.09875 or $6.10

Explanation:

We need to take 7/8 of the price ($6.97)

7/8 is .875

Then multiply .875 by $6.97 to get $6.09875, which we can round to $6.10

(If they were buying a full yard, we could test this way by doing 8/8, which is 1, and multiplying it by the price, which would give us the same thing).

Hope this helps
