The star spangled banner:
The Star Spangled banner is very much important to the people of the United States because it is the national anthem of the country. On April 4,1818 the Third Flag act was passed.
It reduced the number of strips back to thirteen so as to honor the original thirteen colonies and provided one star for each state.
Pickersgill sewed on 15 stars where each star was made of cotton and was created by reverse applique method. Later a new star was added to the flag on fourth of July following the admission of another state.
