Solve the problem. How many square centimeters of glass does it take to make the bottom and sides of a cube-shaped aquarium with an edge lenght of 38 cm?​

Explanation:

The length of the edge of glass square = 38 cm

Now, to complete 1 cube aquarium the number of glass squares required

= 1 base square + 4 sides at 4 sides ( TOP IS OPEN)

= 5 glass squares

Now,area of one glass sq.= EDGE x EDGE

= 38 cm x 38 cm = 1,444 sq cm

So, the area of 5 glass squares = 5 x (AREA OF EACH SQ.)

= 5 x (1,444 sq. cm) = 7,220 sq cm

⇒The total surface area of the cube shaped aquarium = 7,220 sq cm
