In this problem we have


x=33 ----> total females


y=31+33=64 ---> total males plus total females

substitute


P=(33)/(64)

Find the probability that a randomly selected person was was wearing brown shoes

In this problem we have


x=18 ----> total brown shoes


y=64 ---> total shoes

substitute


P=(18)/(64)
