Explanation:

First you would subtract 4y from both sides, leaving you with 4y + 2 < -22. Then you would subtract 2 from both sides leaving you with 4y < -44 because when you subtract 2 from -22 you have to change the 2 to negative and the subtraction to addition. So, then you divide 4 on both sides leaving you with... y < -11, because if you divided -44 by 4 you get 11, but its negative so, it would be -11.
