George earns 9% commission on all of his sales. He had sales of 89,400 for the month. Paris works for a different company, and also sold 89,400 for the month but made 447 more than George. What is Harris's commission rate?

Answer: 10.53%

Explanation:

George £89400 @ 9% = £8046 so income = £89400+£8046=£97446

Harris (Paris?) gets £447 more so 97446+447=£97893

and this represents sales of £89400 plus commission

so Harris' commission = £97893-£89400 = £8493

So last stage is what commission percentage is £8493 of original sales £89400 = 10.53%
