If I have (-2, 7) and (6, y) distancia = 10 . How can I find y?

d = √ (x₂ - x₁ )² + (y₂ - y₁ )²

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 2, 7) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (6, y)

√((6+2)^2+(y-7)^2), that is

√(8^2+(y-7)^2) = 10


√(64+(y-7)^2) = 10 ← square both sides

64 + (y - 7)² = 100 ( subtract 64 from both sides )

(y - 7)² = 36 ← take the square root of both sides
