Answer:

8.8 million would be the population in January 1, 2015

Explanation:

From 2010 to 2015 would take 5 years

8 million in 2010

2% per year

5 years to 2015

2% × 5 = 10%

8000000 + (10% of 8000000)

10% of 8,000,000

0.1 × 8,000,000

= 800,000

8,000,000 + 800,000 = 8,800,000

Population in 2015 = 8.8 million

Answer: 19,906,560

Explanation:

So far it is an exponential growth , the formula is given as

P(n) = P
(1.2)^(n) , the original population is taken as 100% and there is an increment of 2% , this will make it 102% which is equivalent to 1.02.

substituting the given values into the equation , we have

P(5) = 8 million
(1.2)^(5)

the population on January 1 , 2015 will thus be

19,906,560
