Explanation:

Original length of the wood = 8
(1)/(4) feet

He wants to cut this wood into pieces that are 3/4 foot , to know the number of woods this will be , we will divide the original length by 3/4 , that is

8
(1)/(4) ÷ 3/4

⇒ 33/4 ÷ 3/4

= 33/4 × 4/33

= 11

Therefore there are 11 3/4 foot pieces of wood
