Explanation:

The area of the unshaded part is calculated as

Area of outer rectangle - area of square - area of triangle

outer area = 300 × 150 = 45000 ft²

area of square = 100² = 10000 ft²

area of triangle =
(1)/(2) × 120 × 150 = 60 × 150 = 9000 ft²

Thus

unshaded area = 45000 - 10000 - 9000 = 26000 ft²
