Answer: the percent of her take home he spent was %39.22 combined

Explanation:

The first thing we have to do is to substract the percentage that is deducted for taxes which is 24% so 24% out of $4250 is ( we use a simple three rule):

$4250 -----100%

x --------- 24%

x = (4250 * 24) / 100

x = $1020

Then we substract the taxes out of the gross monthly amount:

x= $4250- $1020

x= $3230

Now what we have to do is to calculate how much is $975 out of $3230 so we have to apply a simple three rule: if $3230 is 100% how much would it be $950.

$3230 ----- 100%

$ 950 ----- x

x= (950 * 100) / 3230

x= 95000/4250

x= 29.41%

The next thing is to calculate the percentage spent on food again with a simple three rule:

$3230 -----100%

$317 ------ x

x = (317 * 100) / 3230

x= 31700/ 3230

x= 9.81 %

Now we add the two percentages 29.41%+9.81%= 39.22%
