Total no. of pupils = 1200

No of girls = 575

No of boys = 1200-575

= 625

Let the no. of girls who like sports = x

Fraction of girls who like sports =
`(2)/(5)`

`(x)/(575) = (2)/(5)`

5x = 575*2

= 5x = 1150

x = 230

∴ 230 girls like sports

Let the no. of boys who like sports = y

Fraction of boys who like sports =
`(3)/(5)`

`(y)/(625) = (3)/(5)`

= 5y = 625*3

= 5y = 1875

= y = 375

∴ 375 boys like sports

Total no. of pupils who like sports =

No. of girls who like sports + No of boys who like sports

= 375 + 230

= 605

∴ Total No of pupils who like sports = 605
