Let c represent the number of calls. Brea invested $500 in stocks. She continues to invest the same amount every time she calls her stockbroker. For every transaction she completes, she must pay $11 to her broker. This amount is deducted from her investment. What inequality best represents how many calls she must make to invest more than $2000?

Answer:

c > 4

Explanation:

Let the number of calls to broker = c

Since Brea invested $500 every time she calls, the total amount invested at any time will be :

Investment at any time = 500c

Transactional cost paid to the broker= 11c

500c - 11c > 2000------------------------------------- (1)

489 c > 2000

c > 2000/489

c > 4.08

c > 4

This implies that Brea must make more that four (4) calls to the Broker to invest more that $2000 .
