Mr. X thinks that Barack Obama became president of the U.S. because--even though he is not that brilliant or talented--he made a real effort to campaign well in 2008. But Mr. Y thinks that Barack Obama only became president because he was "in the right place at the right time" and had good luck. Social psychologists would say that Mr. X is making ____ attributions for Obama's success, while Mr. Y is making ____ attributions.

Answer:internal and unstable; external and unstable

Explanation:ATTRIBUTIONS refers to how we can deduct what caused something without really knowing the whole truth just based on what knowlegde is available to us or based on assumption. These attributions have an effect on how we take others.

INTERNAL ATTRIBUTION is based on inference that suggest a certain behavior was due to personal elements such as abilities or traits,Mr X says Obama made an effort to campaign well , effort means its internal ability.

EXTERNAL ATTRIBUTION we make suggestions or assumptions that an event occured is due to situational factors. Mr Y says it's just lucky which is an external factor but unstable cause no guarantee in luck.

UNSTABLE ATTRIBUTION deduct that the behavior is caused by temporary factors which can change anytime.
