Answer:

x=-1 and y=2

Explanation:

Given,
4x + y = -2 and
2x=-y

Solution,
4x + y = -2 equation 1

2x=-y\\y\ =-2x

Now substituting the value of y in equation 1, we get;

4x + (-2x) = -2\\4x-2x\ =-2\\2x=-2\\x=-1

Now
y =-2x = -2*-1=2

So the solution of the given equation is x=-1 and y=2

Check:

Substituting the value of x and y in equation 1 we get;

4x + y = -2\\4*-1+2=-2\\-4+2=-2\\-2=-2

L.H.S=R.H.S

Substituting the value of x and y in equation 2 we get;

2x=-y\\2*-1= -2\\-2=-2

L.H.S=R.H.S
