You take the discount then the sales tax.

Turn discount into a decimal.

25% = 0.25

Multiply.

65 * 0.25 = $16.25 (Discount)

Subtract.

65 - 16.25 = $48.75 (After discount if applied)

Now, we need to find the sales tax.

Turn sales tax into a decimal.

6% = 0.06

Multiply.

48.75 * 0.06 = 2.925

Add.

48.75 + 2.925 = 51.675

Hence, Thom doesn't have enough money to buy the radio. If he only had $50 to spend then even with the discount the radio is still more than what he intended to pay. 51.675 > 50

Hope This Helped! Good Luck!
