Why do cells divide instead of just grow larger?

A. If a cell gets too big, it does not have enough surface area for substances
to get into the cell.
B. If a cell is too large, it will no longer fit into the tissue that it makes up.
C. Large cells are more likely to get damaged by everyday activities.

Answer: As we all grow, why don’t the cells just get bigger instead of getting more of them? Cells are limited in size because the outside (the cell membrane) must transport the food and oxygen to the parts inside.
