The equation of parallel line differ only by their constant.

Hence, the equation of the line parallel to
x - 2y - 6 = 0 is nothing but
x - 2y + c = 0.

When a point passing through this line is given we can substitute the point in this line and get the value for
c.

The line passes through
(-2, 4).

Therefore, we have:
-2 - 8 + c = 0 \implies c = 10

Substituting this we get the equation of the parallel line as
x - 2y + 10 = 0.
