Given the inequality -8 < 2, explain what happens when you multiply or divide both sides by 2 and what happens when you multiply or divide both sides by -2.

Answer:

When you multiply or divide each side by 2, the signs stay the same. -16 < 4 and -4 < 1. When you mulitply or divide by -2, the inequality sign reverses. 16 > -4 and 4 > -1.

Explanation:

When multiplying or dividing by -2, the direction of the inequality was reversed. And i got it correct on my Assignment. : )

Now, if we multiply 2 in both sides then - 16 < 4

Again, if we divide by 2 into both sides then - 4 < 1

Now, if we multiply -2 in both sides then 16 > -4

And, if we divide -2 into both sides then 4 > -1
