By adding the both equations we get,

Putting the value of x in equation (ii) we get

`18 + 2y = 48 \\ 2y = 48 - 18 \\ 2y = 30 \\ y = (30)/(2) \\ \boxed{y = 15}`

Therefore, x=18 and y=15 is the right answer.
