Equations are :---


3x - 2y = 24............... (i) \\ x + 2y = 48..................(ii)

By adding the both equations we get,


(3x - 2y) + (x + 2y) = 24 + 48 \\ 4x = 72 \\ x = (72)/(4) \\ \boxed{ x = 18} \\

Putting the value of x in equation (ii) we get


18 + 2y = 48 \\ 2y = 48 - 18 \\ 2y = 30 \\ y = (30)/(2) \\ \boxed{y = 15}

Therefore, x=18 and y=15 is the right answer.
