Every month, Adrian pays for his own long-distance calls made on his family phone. Last month, 15 of the 60 minutes of long-distance charges were Adrian's and he paid $2.50 of the $12 long-distance bill. Did Adrian pay his fair share?

Answer:

No, Adrian did not pay his fair share.

Explanation:

If you divide 60 by 15, you get 4 so Adrian made 1/4 of the families total long distance calls. So, he would need to pay 1/4 of the bill.

However, 1/4 of 12 is 3, not 2.50.

So, Adrian would need to pay $0.50 more in order to pay his fair share.
