In the United States, school and bank calendars are planned around Christian holidays and our presidents place their hands on a Bible when they are sworn into office. These all run contrary to the commonly held idea that the United States is what kind of society?

Answer: Secular society

Step-by-step explanation:

Secular society is referred to as or known as state under which one is separate from the religion, or the notion of not being completely allied against or with any religion. Earlier, the term secular was not inclined or linked with the word religion, but instead was referred to as a freestanding word in the Latin language which could be easily related to the mundane endeavors.
