The length of a rectangle is 4 cm greater than its width. If the area of the rectangle is 108 cm^2 what are the approximate dimensions of the rectangle?

In case of approximate dimensions, the answer is bound to be in fraction form.

So,

The area of a rectangal is lxb.

If the length is 4cm more than the breadth, the required equation would be:

x(x+4).

So, area= lxb

108= x(x+4)

108= x^2 + 4x.

108÷4 = x^2

27 =x^2

x= √27

x+4=√27+4
