The slavery in Louisiana was different form slavery in other states in America because in Louisiana Native American were captured and made slaves when the French invaded/raided Chitimacha settlements in 1706. this was known as chattel slavery.

The French also introduced African Chattel slavery to Louisiana in 1710 by transporting a very large number of African slaves to the territory. according to the laws made to govern the ownership of slaves in Louisiana the slaves were allowed the right to marry among themselves and this brought about births of Naturally enslaved people to the benefits of the slave masters.
