Seiji and Gavin both worked hard over the summer. Together they earned a total of $400. Gavin eamed $25

more than Seiji.
(a) Write a system of equations for the situation. Use s for the amount Selji eamed and g for the amount
Gavin eamed.
(b) Graph the equations in the system.

Answer:

(a) s + g = 400

25 + s = g

(b) see picture attached

(c) s = $187.5, g = $212.5

Explanation:

(a) Let's call

s: money earned by Seiji

g: money earned by Gavin

Together they earned a total of $400. Mathematically:

s + g = 400 (eq. 1)

Gavin eamed $25 more than Seiji. Mathematically:

25 + s = g (eq. 2)

(b) see picture attached

(c) From the picture we can see that:

s = $187.5

g = $212.5

Seiji and Gavin both worked hard over the summer. Together they earned a total of-example-1
