Answer:

£3.8

Explanation:

a cup of tea cost 1/2 of a slice of cake

so if say cake costs 2x then tea costs x

mrs. Clarke bought 2 slices of cake which costs 4x and 3 cup of tea which costs 3x

all together she pays 7x = £13.30 ➡ x = 1.9

1 slice of cake is 2x so 2×1.9 = £3.8

Answer:

The cup of tea costs= €1.9

The slice of cake costs = €3.8

Explanation:

Let cost of cup of tea = T

and slice of cake = C

Given that:

T = 1/2 C ....... eq1

2C + 3T = €13.30 ........ eq2

Now putting value of T from eq1 into eq2 we get:

2C + 3(1/2C) =€ 13.30

2C + 1.5 C = €13.30

3.5C = €13.30

Dividing both sides by 3.5 we get:

C = €13.30/3.5

C = €3.8

Now calculating cost of a cup of tea from eq1

T = €1/2 (3.8)

T = €1.9

So,

The cup of tea costs= €1.9

The slice of cake costs = €3.8

i hope it will help you!
