The greatest common factor of 9y^4 and 7y^3 is
=y^(3)

Solution:

We have to find the greatest common factor of
9 y^(4) \text { and } 7 y^(3)

G.C.F is the largest factor that all terms have in common.

Let us first find the factors of
9 y^(4) \text { and } 7 y^(3)

\text { Factor of } 9 y^(4)=9 * y * y * y * y

=3 * 3 * y * y * y * y --- eqn 1

\text { Factor of } 7 y^(3)=7 * y * y * y --- eqn 2

Here 9 and 7 are co-prime numbers, Co-prime are the numbers which only have 1 as the common factor

From Equation (1) and (2)

\text { Common Factor of } 9 y^(4) \text { and } 7 y^(3)=y * y * y=y^(3)
