x-y = ....................... eq2

Using eq2:

x = 3 + y

Now put value of x in eq1

4(3 + y) + 2y = 6

By simplifying

12 + 4y + 2y = 6

12 + 6y =6

6y = 6 -12

6y = -6

Dividing both sides by 6 we get

y = -1

Now put value of y in eq2

x - (-1) = 3

x + 1 = 3

x = 3 - 1

x = 2
