We can start from
x=-5 and multiply/divide both sides to generate an equation that has -5 as a solution. For example, if we multiply both sides by 3, we have

3x=-15

And this equation must be solved by dividing both sides by 3.

Vice versa, if we divide both sides by 2, we have

(x)/(2)=-(5)/(2)

And this equation must be solved by multiplying both sides by 2.
