What are the length and width of a rectangle if the length exceeds the width by 41 inches and the perimeter is 122 inches?

Answer:

The Width of the rectangle = 10 inches

The Length of the rectangle = 51 inches

Explanation:

let the width of the rectangle = k inches

So, the length of the rectangle = (k+41) inches

Perimeter = 122 inches

Also, PERIMETER OF THE RECTANGLE = 2(LENGTH + WIDTH)

⇒2( k + (k+41)) = 122

or, 4k + 82 = 122

4k = 122 - 82 = 40

or, k = 40/4 = 10

⇒ k= 10 inches

Hence, the width of the rectangle is 10 inches

Length of the rectangle = 10+ 41 = 51 inches
