(a) 2(3x-1) + 8(2x+5) = 170
Solve for x.
6x-2+16x+40=170
22x= 170+2-40
22x =132
x = 132/22 = 6
(b) Length AB = 3x-1 = 3(6)-1 = 17cm
Length BC = 2x+5 = 2(6)+5 = 17cm
Since length AB and BC are equal, Figure ABCD is a square of length 17cm.
