Answer:

Time it took for the walker to land on net = 1.75 seconds

Explanation:

Given:

Height above the ring as a function of time is give as:

h(t)=60-16t^2

Height of the tightrope walker after he falls = 11 feet

Plugging the height in order to find the time it took for the walker to land on net.

11=60-16t^2

Adding
16t^2 to both sides.

11+16t^2=60-16t^2+16t^2

11+16t^2=60

Subtracting both sides by 11.

11-11+16t^2=60-11

16t^2=49

Dividing both sides by 16.

(16t^2)/(16)=(49)/(16)\\\\t^2=(49)/(16)

Taking square root both sides.

\sqrt t^2=\sqrt{(49)/(16)}\\\\t=\pm(7)/(4)

Since time is always positive

t=(7)/(4) = 1.75 \ seconds

Time it took for the walker to land on net = 1.75 seconds
