The perimeter of a rectangular sports court is 134 feet. After a game, a player's coach estimates that the athlete has run a total of 378 feet, which is equivalent to four times the court's length plus nine times its width. What are the dimensions of the sports court?

Explanation:

perimeter is 2L+2W =134ft

The coach says that 378=4L+9W

We can rearrange the first equation to get L=67-W, then solve by substitution.

378=4(67-W)+9W=268+5W

110=5W so W=22

L=67-W and W=22 so

L=67-22=44

Therefore the dimensions are 22 by 45
