A student is observing a group of cells under a microscope. What observation would help her conclude that they are plant cells?

A) The presence of nuclei can be clearly detected within each cell.
B) The cells appear well-defined, indicating the presence of cell walls.
C) The presence of mitochondria can be clearly detected within each cell.
D) The cytoplasm in which the cell organelles are embedded can be clearly seen.

I think the answer is B, because only plant cells contain a cell wall, while the other answers contain an organelle that can be found in multiple cell types.

Answer:

B) The cells appear well-defined, indicating the presence of cell walls

Step-by-step explanation:

Cells are the fundamental and basic unit of all living organisms. Within each cell, are organ-like structures that performs specific functions making a cell work. These structures are called ORGANNELLES. Multicellular organisms like plants, animals etc are distinguished from one another at the cellular level based on the possession or not of structures that make up their cells.

A good example is the possession of a cell wall, in addition to the cell membrane, by plant cells. Cell wall is unique to plant and fungal cells. The cell wall of a plant cell is made up of cellulose and it clearly defines the cell. Hence, a cell with cell wall can be used to distinguish a plant cell from other cells. Cellular organnelles like mitochondria, nucleus is a characteristics of all eukaryotic cells like plant, animal and fungi cells.
