A rectangular tabletop has a length of 4 3/4 feet and an area 11 7/8 square. What is the width of the tabletop

The length of the square =

Now, AREA OF THE RECTANGULAR TABLETOP = LENGTH x WIDTH

or, 11.875 sq. feet = 4.75 ft x W ft

⇒ 11.875 = 4.75 x W

or,
W = (11.875)/(4.75) \implies W = 2.50

or, W = 2. 50 ft
