You and three friends own a paint shop. The shop’s profit was $536 in the first month. You always divide the profits equally. In two months , each of you had made $224. How much profit did the shop make in the second month?

Let the profit made in the second month be represented by variable X

Total profit (for first month and second month) = 536 + X

Each person's share= $224

(Total profit ) /4 = each person's share;

=
((536 +X))/(4) =224

Multiply each side by 4 ;

= 536+X =224*4

=536+ X = 896

Subtract 536 from both sides to solve for X;

X = 896 - 536

X = 360

Therefore, the shop made a profit of $360 in the second month
