Some companies ban relationships between employees in the same department to reduce the likelihood of personal emotions/conflicts or relationship issues infiltrating the working environment. This will affect productivity and create a negative environment for other colleagues. Furthermore, employees who use romantic relationship to their advantage for workplace advancement is strictly prohibited.
