Answer:when we make generalizations about these people, events, or groups, we are using stereotype.

Step-by-step explanation:

Definition: A stereotype refers to generalized ideas that we hold regarding a specific class of people

The positive thing about a stereotype is that it makes it easy for us to effectively and efficiently deal with a situation that we have encountered before.

The negative thing it can make us forget to acknowledge that we are different individuals and we may end up misjudging others, using generalized ideas towards them.

Sometimes we use stereotype to avoid spending time trying to think and figure out a person we just met. We can just relate to what we already know about personality traits of people who belong in the same group which however may result to prejudice where we isolate others and accept others in these groups or classes.
